bout the Programme

The two-year International Master’s in Biological Science program offers practical and theoretical study of living organisms and how they interact with changing environments.

Knowledge of biological processes will help facing challenges concerning the effects of climate change and pollution on biological diversity and ecosystem services.

It will also help us to maintain the global food supply and improve human health and well-being.

These are all active areas of teaching and research in the Department of Biology at NTNU.

We offer courses and Master’s research projects that cover the full spectrum of biology, from biomolecules and cells to populations and ecosystems, in four fields of study:

•    Cell and Molecular Biology
•    Ecology, Behaviour, Evolution and Biosystematics
•    Physiology
•    Biodiversity and Systematics (Nordic Masters)

– Admission Requirements

Admission to the MSc programme in Biology requires a bachelor’s degree (or an equivalent 3-year education) in Biology (minimum of 80 ECTS credits biology courses). In addition, applicants must have basic knowledge in chemistry, statistics and mathematics.

Admission to the different specializations requires a bachelor’s degree with courses relevant for the specialization in mind.

Bachelor degrees within other related areas may be considered on an individual basis. The candidates’ background should provide a biological relevant basis for the master study in Biology.
