You will learn how to describe cybernetic systems using mathematics, and to analyse and design cybernetical systems in a vast range of applications from process control to biorobotics. The program combines courses on automatic control and robotics with machine learning and AI technologies. It provides broad knowledge in the field, and the depth in selected areas needed to tackle challenges in the research and development of technical solutions for digitalization and sustainable development.
During the initial phase of the program, you are introduced to cybernetics through the modeling of dynamic systems in a broad range of applications and are also provided with a set of standard methods and engineering tools from electronics and computer science.
After that, you follow a study schedule containing courses in the areas of automatic control, robotics and machine learning, including AI. Two electable courses give you the opportunity to choose between industrial automation and deeper studies into machine learning.
In the beginning of the second year, you will consolidate your learnings in a project course, where you will work in groups of students, collaboration with industry or academia to learn planning and realizing a project in the field. Finally, the second half of the second year is devoted to master thesis work.
Project collaborations with regional and international industries and access to Luleå University of Technology’s field robotics laboratory featuring one of the largest motion capture systems in Europe are very important elements in the education that will allow you to consolidate your learnings with experimental work.
After completion, you will be able to work as a key resource in small innovative companies, to take on a career within any of the major industrial companies’ research and development departments or to continue your studies towards PhD.
