About the Programme
Are you interested in obtaining analytical and empirical skills for solving the environmental problems of tomorrow? Are you interested in finding balances among environmental, economic and social interest?
To answer these questions, you need a thorough understanding of the many approaches toward the environmental problems.
MSc in Environmental and Resource Management combine natural science, engineering and social science which enable the students to create sustainable solutions by addressing the environmental problems of tomorrow.
Graduates on this programme attains a set of competencies, which allow them to work with a great number of different tasks in environmental management – both in the public and the private sector, as well as in NGOs and stakeholder organisations.
Graduates will be able to design and conduct analysis of existing or future environmental strategies and policies within an organisation or at a societal level.
As a MSc in Environmental and Resource Management your job opportunities will be many: for example working as an advisor for business leaders, who must consider environmental impacts of their decisions and develop competitive advantage.
Environmental leaders will benefit from the business skills in combination with natural science, technical and economic issues in their proposed solutions to environmental problems.
The programme is based on mandatory courses the first year of study while in the second year you can combine elective courses, internship in firms or organisations and study abroad to develop your own academic profile. We emphasize that you develop your analytical skills during the two of study so you can provide solid and well-founded sustainable proposals for a range of environmental and natural resource problems.
To apply for the Master’s programme in Environmental and Resource Management, you need a relevant Bachelor’s degree.
You can apply if you hold a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental and Resource Management from University of Southern Denmark (gives you a legal claim for admission, but is no longer offered to new students)
You can also apply if you hold another relevant Bachelor’s degree. The programme is designed for graduates with a wide range of backgrounds, including planning, social science, geography, natural science, biology, earth science, technology and engineering. You are expected to be able to work with social science as well as technology. Numeric literacy and previous experience with quantitative data and models are an advantage. Depending on your level of expertise in these areas, you may be required to complete supplementary courses.
English language requirements
The programme is taught in English. Therefore, you are required to submit proof of your proficiency in English unless your Bachelor’s gives you a legal claim for admission.
