The Master’s programme in European Studies provides in-depth knowledge of the multiplicity of forms and degrees of European integration and cooperation, how they came about, and what implications this has for governance and democracy in Europe. Norway and its unique relationship to the EU through its joint participation in the EEA and the European Free Trade Area (EFTA) is an important focal point of the MA in European Studies.
Admission requirements – European Studies
Admission to the Master requires a Bachelor in European Studies, Humanities or Social Sciences, or equivalent approved degree. Candidates who do not possess basic knowledge of the EU as a political system, the EU as a political actor, European (integration) history, culture and integration theories are advised to familiarize themselves with basic literature on these topics, for instance offered as part of the following courses of the BA in European Studies and Foreign Languages: EUR1001, EUR2915, EUR1201/EUR2102, and EUR2201.
Admission to the MA in European Studies requires a minimum grade average equivalent to C (Norwegian grading scale) or corresponding ECTS. As of 2017/2018 the grade average will be calculated based on the grades obtained in all courses of the Bachelor’s programme or any equivalent approved degree.
