Our focus lies within global child health, sexual and reproductive health and rights, global nutrition as well as public health issues connected to disasters. The programme is composed of compulsory and elective courses and includes planning, performing, analysing and reporting an independent research project in the field of global health.

During the programme you can expect to:

  • be able to analyse global health problems.
  • develop and evaluate interventions in order to improve public health.
  • study with course participants from all over the world.
  • field work and internship.

The Master’s Programme in Global Health consists of four semesters. During the first semester you get basic knowledge in global health and research methods, and pave the way for the second semester’s advanced course focusing on global nutrition, sexual and reproductive health and child health. The third semester prepares you for the Master’s thesis you will undertake as during the last semester, with courses in research methods and field work. This can also be combined with an internship.

Student profile
You probably have a strong foundation in medicine and have practical experience working as a nurse or a doctor. Because of your experience you expect to contribute as much to the educational experience of others as you expect to learn from their previous experiences and knowledge.

Your social skills are good and you are both able and willing to communicate your ideas and thoughts in written and spoken English. You can critically analyse and reflect on problems and are creative and innovative enough to come up with your own ideas and present them.

A future PhD education is a possibility you might have thought about, but working right after graduation is also something you are considering. You like to keep your options open for now.
