Do you have an engineering background? Do you want to develop skills in sustainable and environmentally friendly energy technologies? Then the Master in Green Energy Technology is something for you.

Society faces a number of great challenges and there is a need for more expertise in sustainable and environmentally friendly technologies. This master´s program prepares you to take on key roles within the field of Green Energy Technology as new and emerging technological solutions for energy and resource use are developed and implemented.

The Master in Green Energy Technology gives you a broad introduction to energy technology themes, and the opportunity to build your professional profile within Smart Energy Technology or Materials for Energy Technology. You will work in interdisciplinary groups, both in laboratory work and in projects.

Through the master’s program, you will acquire knowledge of the contemporary social debate related to sustainable energy technology and innovation, as well as solid academic knowledge of smart energy technologies or materials for energy technology.

As a student with us, you have close contact with professionals / researchers. Small class sizes mean the chance to interact and learn beside faculty. In addition, we have close cooperation with the business community and major research and development environments in energy technology and sustainable development.

Admission

All applicants must register an online application using HiØ’s application portal.

Application deadline

1st of February: Deadline for applicants with higher education from other than Nordic countries.

1st of March: Deadline for applicants with higher education from Norway or another Nordic country.

Requirements for admission

The minimum requirements for admission is one of the following:

1)  Relevant bachelor degree in engineering or equivalent of at least 180 ECST,
and included or in addition at least 25 ECST in mathematics
or
2) Other relevant natural science bachelor degree or equivalent of at least 180 ECST,
and included or in addition at least 25 ECST in mathematics

It requires a minimum grade point average from the qualifying education of C (according to ECTS Standards).
Proof of English proficiency is also required.

For the profile choice with specialization in Smart Energy Technology, relevant degrees must be within the fields of energy technology, electrical engineering, mechatronics, cybernetics, or equivalent.

For the profile choice with specialization in Materials for Energy Technology, relevant degrees must be within the fields of energy technology, materials science, chemistry, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, or equivalent.

English language requirement :

a) Passed the subject English at a Norwegian upper secondary school (140 hours) and been awarded an average grade of 3 or better, or
b) International English Language Test Service (IELTS), with a minimum overall band score of 6.0 (academic test), or
c) Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOFEL) with a minimum score of 550 (paper-based), 213 (computer-based) or 80 (internet-based), or
d) Pearson PTE Academic test, with a minimum overall score of 58, or
e) Cambridge ESOL Examinations, First Certificate in English with a grade of B or better, certificate in Advanced English or Certificate of Proficiency in English, or
f) Completed university degree in the subject English language or literature, or
g) Completed bachelor’s degree taught in English from Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the UK or the USA, or
h) Other approved documentation of English language tests may be subject to an individual and discretionary assessment.

Applicants from countries outside the EU/EEA must submit proof of funding when submitting their application.
