This is Innovation and Technology Management
This brand new MSc-programme integrates innovation and technology management with the study of change processes and entrepreneurship, as in new venture or existing organisations. The study is based on being able to manage and see opportunities in various trends such as globalization, digitization and working in multicultural conditions. All operations must be adapted to new conditions in order to be competitive. This requires modern leadership, the ability to innovate, be able to lead development and the ability to implement change (change agents and entrepreneurship). An overarching issue is to minimize the footprint of organizations’ activities and societal resource consumption, while increasing value creation and welfare, i.e. creating sustainable development.
Why study Innovation and Technology Management ?
The world is changing rapidly, and so does the demands of tomorrows leaders.
Through this master, you will develop strong multidimensional analytical skills. You will experience real life problems from the local business sector, and develop an understanding of the contribution of technology. You will study how technological solutions can increase value creation and welfare by embracing change, through new ventures, as well as contributing to effective implementation and efficient organisations. Consequently, you will understand how new ventures and entrepreneurs, as well as organizations and managers, can facilitate the development of new technology as new business models.
This programme focuses on practical study methods, with a problem-based approach that should help you to prepare for real-life situations.

Gain international experience
You are encouraged to take courses at other approved universities abroad. USN has exchange agreements with several universities. Students intending to participate in our exchange programmes may do so in the third semester of the study programme. If you choose to study abroad during the third semester, you have the opportunity to create your own profile within the Innovation and Technology Management field.
Further study opportunities
On completing the ITM programme, students shall be able to conduct R&D work in the business field, and/or proceed with doctoral studies at, for example, the University of Agder (UiA), University of Oslo (UiO), Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), USN or at institutions abroad.
The admission requirement is a bachelor degree or equivalent in business administration or engineering.
An equivalent education in science and engineering or social sciences may qualify for admission.
Any equivalent education in business administration or engineering must comply with the academic requirements stipulated by the Universities Norway Council of Representatives, Business and Administration and STEM, respectively.
Applicants from non-Nordic countries must hold a bachelor’s degree with a cumulative grade point average equivalent to, or better than, a C in the ECTS system, and provide certified documentation of English proficiency; cf. Regulations related to admission to the University of South-Eastern Norway.
The cohorts will be divided 50-50 between business administration and engineering. Up to 40% of the total places will be allocated to students holding a bachelor’s degree from non-Nordic countries.
