BECOME AN EXPERT IN THE LAW OF THE INFORMATION SOCIETY AND UNDERSTAND THE LEGAL CHALLENGES OF DIGITALISATION!
THE MASTER’S DEGREE PROGRAMME IN LAW AND INFORMATION SOCIETY (LIS) PROVIDES ESSENTIAL INSIGHTS, CAPABILITIES AND INTELLECTUAL TOOLS FOR ANALYSING LEGAL PROBLEMS OF THE INFORMATION SOCIETY.
The Programme offers its students a unique combination of private and public law and interdisciplinary perspectives. Skills in legal analysis, critical thinking, research and writing is what distinguishes excellent lawyers and legal scholars.
Our interactive study methods are based on the latest pedagogical research and courses are taught in small groups of selected students. The Programme creates a solid basis for doctoral training in law. It also provides you with the expertise necessary for a successful career at law firms and corporations, governments and international organisations, as well as at universities and research institutions.
The Programme is directed towards students with a Bachelor of Laws degree or equivalent degree with most of the credits from legal studies.
The required degree must be completed by 10 July 2018. If the required degree is not completed by the application deadline, applicants should enclose a statement from their home university stating the expected date of graduation.
The Programme admits a maximum of 20 students to pursue the Master of International and Comparative Law degree.
After completing the MDP in Law and Information Society students will be awarded a Master of International and Comparative Law degree. Completion of this degree does not qualify the graduate for positions which require a Finnish Master of Laws degree (OTM). Starting from the autumn 2017 it is not possible with any study backgrounds to receive the Master of Laws Degree from the LIS programme.
All applications are evaluated by the LIS selection board. Applications will be checked for plagiarism. The decision on admission is made by the Dean of the Faculty of Law.
The admission decision is based on the overall evaluation of the level and content of:
- previous studies
- language skills
- personal interest
- written application examination
The results of the admission will be published by 28 March 2018 at the latest in the Studyinfo.fi portal.
