ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
Manufacturing engineering is a critical link between a product’s design and its realization. A manufacturing engineer has competence in multiple technical, scientific, and managerial fields and uses them to select, develop, and improve various manufacturing processes that transform raw materials into the shipped products.
Two different qualifications are offered:
- Manufacturing Engineering Technology, 1 year, 60 Higher Education Credits
- Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, Co-op, 2 years, 120 Higher Education Credits
Within these programmes, multiple critical manufacturing technologies are presented and their scientific bases are discussed along with related scientific developments and ongoing challenges. Using a scientific approach, you study several manufacturing processes such as machining, welding and thermal spraying. Furthermore, several mandatory subjects such as operations management and robotics are included to better prepare you for the tasks of a manufacturing engineer.
Within the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering programme, more advanced subjects are also covered: welding metallurgy, statistical process control and experiment design, additive manufacturing and surface engineering.
Degree of Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, materials science and engineering or equivalent. The Bachelor of Science degree must be comprised of a at least 7.5 HE credits of materials science and at least 15 credits of mathematics including basic knowledge of analysis, linear algebra and statistics. In addition, verified knowledge of English corresponding to the course English B, English 6 in the Swedish upper-secondary level or equivalent.
