The oceans are a key resource for addressing numerous international challenges: transportation, energy, and food production for the growing global population. The two-year International Master of Science Degree in Marine Technology is a demanding and exciting program which provides the fundamental background for technical solutions which safely and sustainably exploit marine resources.
Marine technology is an ideal specialization for bachelor’s degree engineers with technical interests, and paves the way for a wide variety of career possibilities.
Only marine engineers can apply, see Admission requirements further down in this text.
- The information on this page is applicable for international applicants.
- Applicants with a Norwegian or Nordic educational background can not apply for admission to this international study programme, but can apply for admission to Marin teknikk, (2-årig masterprogram – MIMART) — which is identical to this international study programme.
The normal requirements for entry to the MSc programmes will be a Bachelor of Science degree or a similar qualification (at least 3 years of university study) in areas related to marine technology, such as:
- Naval Architecture
- Marine Engineering
- Offshore Engineering
- Ocean Engineering
- Marine Technology
- Coastal or Harbour Engineering
All lectures are given in English. A good working knowledge of English is therefore essential. Applicants whose native language is not English must demonstrate their capacity to complete a graduate programme in English.
In order to qualify for admission to one of NTNU’s 2-year Master of Science programmes in Technology, all applicants must have a minimum of 30 ECTS credits in mathematics and statistics in their Bachelor’s/undergraduate degree, equivalent to the NTNU courses Calculus I, II, III and Statistics.
