About the Programme
This Master of Science programme includes cutting-edge courses that focus on the role of marketing and consumption in contemporary society, its cultural underpinnings and global dimensions. It gives you a great opportunity to develop strategic thinking and top quality skills in marketing and consumption in your pursuit of a successful career in these domains, both in Sweden and abroad. Focus is on understanding consumers in a global marketplace.
Due to a large variety of consumer demands, the marketplace is dynamic and ever changing – with new products being launched regularly as companies compete for consumers’ attention and loyalty. The Marketing and Consumption programme is ideal for students who want to gain expertise in understanding consumers – an area that is critical for success in any market! The consumer focus of this programme provides students with critical knowledge – a distinct advantage over the graduates of other business programmes.
With the global marketplace as a starting point and an emphasis on competitive advantage and sustainable consumption the programme provide cutting edge courses. The programme further offers an appealing study environment – a mix of students with different educational backgrounds, nationalities, and work experiences enriches the studies as well as prepares the students for a successful international career. Up-to-date, practical cases are used and analyzed in close co-operation with global organizations and local companies. International leading marketing scholars from the top ranked business schools also give students the opportunity to attend lectures with current thematics. You will have excellent opportunities to tailor the programme to suit your particular interests, such as marketing system development, consumption development, business leadership, branding and communication, sustainable marketing, and marketing strategy.
The programme consists of 60 credits core courses, 30 credits elective courses from other Master’s programmes at Graduate School and a 30 credits Master Degree project. The elective courses can for example be within event and tourism, logistics, innovation management or international business.
After completing the Marketing and Consumption programme the students are employed as web and marketing coordinator, strategic marketer, brand manager, marketing manager, marketing and communications specialist and planner researcher.
Within six months 90% of the students have employment, almost all with qualified work-tasks.

Requirements and Selection
REQUIREMENTS: The applicant must have been awarded a Bachelor’s degree (equivalent to a Swedish Kandidatexamen) from an internationally recognized university and be able to demonstrate proficiency in English by means of an internationally recognized test, e. g. TOEFL, IELTS. The level of English must be equivalent to English 6/English B from Swedish Upper Secondary School. The applicant’s university education must also include a minimum of 60 credits in Business Administration or equivalent. In addition the education must include a minimum of 15 credits in Statistics, or 7.5 credits in Statistics and 7.5 credits in quantitative methods and/or Mathematics. SELECTION: Selection for event
The selection of students is based on two groups. Priority is given to students in Group 1.
Group 1: Students with GMAT or GRE General Test result. Students need a GMAT test result of 350 or higher. Students with a GMAT test result lower than 350 will be placed in selection group 2. (GRE General Test results are translated to an equivalent GMAT score.)

Group 1: Students with GMAT or GRE General Test result. Students need a GMAT test result of 350 or higher. Students with a GMAT test result lower than 350 will be placed in selection group 3. (GRE General Test results are translated to an equivalent GMAT score.)
Group 2: Students registered on Handelshögskolans Ekonomprogram, Logistikprogram or Samhällsvetenskapligt miljövetarprogram (inriktning uthålligt företagande eller miljöekonomi), that are guaranteed a place on one of the nine MSc programmes, offered by the Graduate School. The students are not guaranteed their first choice of programme. See information on how the selection is made.
Group 3: Number of credits (maximum 225 credits). If there are places left when the selection has been made in group 1 and 2, eligible students in group 3 will be selected.
