As awareness of the finite nature of raw materials grows, it becomes increasingly important to develop new sustainable materials and technology. Uppsala University conducts world-leading research in materials engineering which, like the Master’s Programme in Materials Engineering itself, takes place at the Ångström laboratory, one the most advanced laboratories for functional materials and energy in Europe.
Developing new materials with specific properties is highly important for scientific and technological progress in many areas, such as energy, construction, healthcare, medicine, transport and electronics. WHY THIS PROGRAMME?
As a student in the master’s programme in materials engineering, you will learn about the structure of different materials, their properties, manufacture, application and how to design, modify and produce materials for high-tech products. Materials engineering is an interdisciplinary subject, and the programme encompasses courses that span basic theory to various areas of application. You will gain broad knowledge as well as cutting-edge expertise, including critical analysis, holistic assessments, and problem solving that involves materials in different ways
