Do you want to deepen and broaden your knowledge of mathematics? The Master’s programme in Mathematics gives you a solid theoretical basis with connection to current research. After graduation, you can, for example, work as an analyst or programme developer or continue with doctoral education and invest in an academic career.

While studying

There is great flexibility in choosing which courses in mathematics based on your previous studies. You can also broaden your education by including courses in statistics, computer science and related subjects within the programme.

Most of the teaching takes place through lectures, but many courses include computer labs, where teaching is mainly through individual supervision. The forms of examination vary, from written exams to assignments, seminars and laboratory reports.

Your teachers are active researchers in mathematics or related subjects. All teaching takes place in English.

Career opportunities

Depending on the courses you choose, you can get jobs in various lines of business after graduation. Mathematicians can, for example, work with software development, as  quantitative analysts or with research and development in companies.

If you want to continue in the academic world, you have the qualification for doctoral studies in mathematics after a master’s degree in mathematics.

Eligibility

A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent first-cycle qualification comprising of at least 180 ECTS or a corresponding qualification from an internationally recognised university. Specific entry requirements are at least 90 ECTS in Mathematics, at least 7,5 ECTS in Mathematical Statistics and at least 7,5 ECTS in Programming Methodology, or equivalent. Proficiency in English equivalent to Swedish upper secondary course English B/6.
