Objectives and content
The master’s programme will give you a deep insight in, and an overview of the discipline Petroleum Technology. Within the Master’s Programme in Petroleum Tecnology you can choose among the following specialisations:
- Reservoir Chemistry
- Reservoir Geology
- Reservoir Geophysics
- Reservoir Mechanics
- Reservoir Physics

A first degree (bachelor’s degree) of three or four years duration from an approved institution of higher education, as well as proficiency in the English language.
Your bachelor’s degree must include courses in mathematics, physics and chemistry, in addition to geology and reservoir technology.
Who may apply
The master’s programme in Petroleum Technology is only open for Norwegian applicants and international applicants residing in Norway.
Degree students with a Bachelor’s Degree in Petroleum Technology / Petroleum Engineering may apply for this programme. Applicants with a Bachelor’s Degree in other fields of study can also be assessed if their degree includes enough mathematics, physics, chemistry, geology and reservoir technology. The average grade of an international bachelor’s degree has to be at least 2nd class, upper division/B (correspond to a Norwegian grade C).
After each application deadline receives the master’s programme in Petroleum Technology many more applications than there is available places. Applicants will therefore be ranked according to their grades and the academic content of their bachelor degree.
