The Master’s Programme in Sustainable Management offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to prepare you to promote sustainability in business or other organisations throughout your future career. Through in-depth studies where organisational issues are put in greater context, you’ll learn how you can lead firms in contributing to a more sustainable world. With a strong focus on academic writing, the programme also provides a good foundation for continuing into doctoral studies.

The Master’s Programme in Sustainable Management is designed for students dedicated to sustainability in business, with a clear focus on the critical as well as creative mind set you’ll need to help organisations make and keep commitments in the field. You, your fellow students and your faculty members will share a common goal, working together to review and explore what it means to manage firms sustainably.

The programme is run by the Department of Business studies, home to researchers who lead their fields in several areas of research. You’ll also benefit from Sweden’s stellar reputation for innovation and social responsibility – values that inform all of our Master’s programmes.
You will study at Uppsala University Campus Gotland, located in Visby on the Baltic island of Gotland, Sweden – the best-preserved medieval city in Scandinavia and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Campus Gotland has a strong focus on sustainability. The campus offers unique possibilities for co-operation, networking and learning across a wide range of different international Master’s programmes focused on issues related to sustainability, research centers and dedicated researchers. Nestled between the marina and open sea, you will read, write, think and act, expanding your horizons and drawing inspiration from a backdrop of unique cultural heritage.
The student body of this programme currently looks like this:

A Bachelor’s degree, equivalent to a Swedish Kandidatexamen, from an internationally recognised university.
Also required is 60 credits in business studies.
All applicants need to verify English language proficiency that corresponds to English studies at upper secondary (high school) level in Sweden (“English 6”). This can be done in a number of ways, including through an internationally recognised test such as TOEFL or IELTS, or through previous upper secondary (high school) or university studies.
The minimum test scores are:
- IELTS: an overall mark of 6.5 and no section below 5.5
- TOEFL: Paper-based: Score of 4.5 (scale 1–6) in written test and a total score of 575. Internet-based: Score of 20 (scale 0–30) in written test and a total score of 90
- Cambridge: CAE, CPE
Selection: Students are selected based on:
- GMAT test result
- Higher education credits (maximum 285 credits)
Students with a GMAT test result have priority.
If you are not a citizen of a European Union (EU) or European Economic Area (EEA) country, or Switzerland, you are required to pay application and tuition fees.
